Aunty Ellen is located and manufactured on the Gold Coast & Brisbane, Queensland.

Who makes your clothes?

All clothing is made in-house by me (Ellen).

Can you share a little more about your values?

Locally made: All Aunty Ellen garments are made by myself in either my tiny shipping container house/studio or my grandparent’s house in Brisbane.

Made to order: Aunty Ellen operates a made to order model to allow for customisation but also to reduce waste.

Sustainable: Aunty Ellen is continually learning and adapting, aiming for sustainability in every aspect of business. We are committed to sourcing the most ethically and environmentally friendly materials from end of designer run fabrics and natural fibres to recycled packaging. Keeping end of garment life along with environmental impact in mind we aim to use only natural fibres along with organic cotton sewing thread and biodegradable elastics.

Minimal Waste: Aunty Ellen is aiming for zero waste practices, configuring patterns to reduce fabric waste. We hold on to larger ‘scrap’ pieces in order to make hats and other accessories that may be available for sale at a later date.

Transparent: We aim to be transparent about all our business practices – highlighting the differences between conventional brands and what Aunty Ellen aims to do better/differently.

Which particular fabrics do you use?

All natural fibres: Organic cotton, Linen, Merino and Cotton. At Aunty Ellen we really don’t like POLYESTER! Natural fibres are not only good for the environment but also our bodies (plus baby’s)! Aunty Ellen’s designs incorporate limited edition, deadstock fabrics sourced predominately from The Fabric Store. This redistribution of fabrics reduces production waste and utilises materials that would otherwise have ended up in landfill.

Can you share some labels you admire?
