Francie

Simply beautiful knits, made ethically.

Ethically made. Locally made. Minimal waste. Sustainable.

Francie was born from a desire for luxurious knitwear that is also low impact. Beautiful design that happens to be transparent, sustainable, and ethical.

Francie is located and manufactured in Melbourne.

Who makes your clothes?

A small team of women work with one of the last knitting machines in Melbourne to create Francie knits. The buttons and labels are all sewn on in our Melbourne studio. Every piece is ethically certified by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Can you share a little more about your values?

Francie aims to tread lightly at every stage of production. Their pieces are cleverly designed to be knitted in one piece; meaning minimal waste. They also choose to produce in limited runs, so there is no excess stock. Sustainability is approached as a whole. Not just in regards to the environment, but also the individuals and society that Francie designs touch. The yarns are natural, the designs are timeless, workers are fairly paid, and waste is minimal. Each knit is Ethically and Locally made in Melbourne, Australia and is ethically certified by the ECA.

Which particular fabrics do you use?

High-quality natural fibres are the focus for their breathability, comfort, and longevity. When they do eventually reach the end of their life, they completely break down naturally.

Can you share some labels you admire?

Arnsdorf, Bode, La Reunion, Daniela Gregis, Mina Perhonen & Henrik Vibskov.
