Who makes your clothes?

Me, Mimi Holvast.

Can you share a little more about your values?

I pay myself a living wage, locally produce garments from start to finish myself, operate on a small batch/made to order basis with waste minimising values when cutting. I use only natural fabrics – linen & organic cottons, some of which are deadstock fabrics.

Which particular fabrics do you use?

Linen – for being a very sustainable fabric due to the lack of water and pesticides needed to grow.
Merino Wool – either Australian or New Zealand grown in ethical environments, with ZQue certifications.
Organic Cotton – the more sustainable cotton option, mostly grown in Australia or New Zealand too.

Any extra efforts you make at Mimi Holvast that you can share?

I do not discard any fabric off cuts, I preserve them for personal and small projects. I have also been composting small amounts to not contribute to landfill. I wear every hat of this business – from design, cutting, sewing, pressing, to marketing, customer service, etc!

Can you share some labels you admire?

KLAY, HB Archive, Nu Swim, Le Buns, Pansy Co, Base Range, Molly Goddard, Vege Threads, Romantics Studio (and so many more!!)
