Project Bowman

Consciously made, contemporary slow fashion label.

Ethically made. Locally made. Made to order. Sustainable. Transparent.

Project Bowman focuses on slow, sustainable and ethical production without compromising on style.

Project Bowman is located and manufactured in Melbourne, Victoria.

Who makes your clothes?

CGT Australia.

Can you share a little more about your values?

Ethically & locally made: Our garments are all made locally at our ethically accredited manufacturer in Brunswick, Melbourne.

Made to order: We currently offer one item made to order, by a freelance machinist based in Brunswick, Melbourne. We hope to expand this offering soon.

Sustainable: Project Bowman is a slow fashion brand. This means we produce a small run of garments very intentionally, at our own pace and at high quality. By taking more time to produce less items we’re ensuring we’re not over producing and creating garments that will be worn once and dumped, either because they’re not ‘on trend’ any more or damage easily. We also use deadstock material in an aim to limit waste and prevent pre-existing fabric going into landfill. We have a strong focus on natural fibres too. Our shipping partner, Sendle, is also carbon neutral – so all emissions caused by deliveries are offset.

Transparent: We are extremely transparent about our current manufacturing and sourcing practices, and are open to any discussions our customers want to have, but are not completely there yet. Working towards an 100% transparent and ethical supply chain is a huge goal for us, which we are hoping to achieve as we grow over the next few years.

Which particular fabrics do you use?

We use deadstock material, which is excess stock from other fashion houses. Using deadstock fabric means we are not producing any additional materials and preventing pre-existing fabric going into landfill. We also have a strong focus on natural fibres such silk and organic cotton. These materials can break down and therefore don’t have a lasting impact on the environment beyond a garment’s lifetime.
