Who makes your clothes?
Myself and a small team of makers who have worked with me for over 10 years.
Can you share a little more about your values?
Ethically and locally made: My knitters reside in Melbourne and they are paid a fair wage, they have been with the label for over 10 years.
Minimal waste and sustainable: My garments are ‘fully fashioned’ which means garment pieces are knitted to shape – so only the yarn that is needed for the piece is used (as opposed to cutting and sewing from a piece of fabric). I use deadstock yarn when available. I choose high quality and natural fibres when sourcing ‘new’ yarn, and I design with timelessness in mind, so that garments have longevity both in wear and look. I do small productions runs, and many pieces are made when ordered, I try to avoid holding excess stock that may never sell, as a result the label rarely goes on sale.
Which particular fabrics do you use?
Superfine merino wool, alpaca, linen and cotton. These are natural fibres that wear well and are beautiful to wear.
Any extra efforts you make at Wendy Voon that you can share?
